I’m trying to build a hydroelectric generator…?

I\’m trying to build a hydroelectric generator…?
It’s for a science electricity fair, but im kind of confused about some things. For one, it asks for a large amount of insulated copper wire with which im supposed to make 4 coils of about 200 turns each. But with insulated wire, the insulation is so thick, so how would i get enough to make 200 turns for each coil? The source im using says i need about 100 yard, which is already a ton, but with insulated wire it doesnt seem like enough. Also, it calls for neodymium magnets, which are permanent rare earth magnets. I cant really find any nearby, so would another rare earth magnet work? Somebody else told me that a ceramic magnet works (http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/6/Tools/SpecialtyTools/MechanicsSpecialtyTools/PRD~0586808P/All-Purpose+Magnets.jsp?locale=en) but for a hydroelectric generator it seems like it needs disc shaped magnets which have different poles on the top and bottom sides. Does that ceramic magnet work and how? If anybody could help me with this it would be appreciated

would permanent magnet be a good idea for a BMX bike?
I make a product as part as a level 3 Engineering dimploma and i was thing having really strong rare earth magnets on the braking system of a BMX Bike
I would like to find out if this idea is good or not

How can you work out the amount of Watts from passing a magnet through wire?
I need to work out how much electricity i can get from passing a 9mm diameter neodymium magnet through a tube of copper wire.
Any idea for where I could start?

Homemade speaker help?

Homemade speaker help?
I’m making a homemade speaker consisting of wire and a neodymium magnet. I need help deciding what gauge wire I should use. I heard it’s better to use copper wire as thin as possible but I’ve seen people use magnet copper wire too. Is there a difference in types of wire and gauge size?
Couldn’t we do with a little less military equipment and have it made in the U.S instead of China?

Couldn\’t we do with a little less military equipment and have it made in the U.S instead of China?
It used to be that all equipment had to be made in the USA. Sure we bought materials we do not have in the USA like rare earth magnets. This is so disheartening. Spending all of that money and having it not create jobs here.
Sept. 30 (Bloomberg) — China has become the world’s leading supplier of components crucial to U.S. defense systems, products once supplied by American companies such as Magnequench Inc. and Molycorp Inc. Bloomberg’s Kevin Thrash reports. This report also contains comments from Teri Luna, a former employee at Magnequench, and Stan Trout, an adjunct physics professor at Marian University and former Magnequench employee. I know Republicans will call me a liar but this but I will say it anyway. Democrats want to change this. In fact the one in house you hate most is running on stopping this. And China is paying for 7 out of 8 Republican ads this year. I will not give you a source because Fox will not run that story.
I agree we do not need this big of a military industrial complex. Especially considering this.
China and India for that matter are not going to run ads for people that want to make our military equipment in the US and I am sorry that I mentioned that Republicans are in favor of this because I just want everybody to want this stopped. I am not going to mention that again ever. Because I think the Republican party can be changed if Republicans do not want this.

why are Rare Earth magnets brittle?

why are Rare earth magnets brittle?
why are Rare earth magnets brittle?
Such as Neodymium and Samariam based magnets?
I have bee googling around for some time with no luck.
What about the composition of these magnets makes them so prone to cracking?
Thank you
