Question about Mario kart wii hacking and homebrew please read?

My brother want to download homebrew on the wii or something he wants to cheat on mario kart wii which i am not to happy about but he says it wont affect my wii console or my mario kart wii game
is this true? im not even sure what homebrew is, i thought he was talking about a drink LOL
he says its on his SD card so after playing with it he can take it out and everything will be back to normal on my wii console and mario kart wii game
is this true

gecko OS won\’t work?? -wii hack?

I’m trying to hack the wii (no hate answers please) and I downloaded the homebrew channel, downloaded the cheat manager, code downloader, and Gecko OS (i think like v. 1.9.3.1? yeah thts it). My SD Card lokks like this:

Apps> cheat manager, code downloader, gecko1931
bootmii> (program)
codes> RVYE52.gct
private> wii> blah blah the
privateold> wii> the save data stuff i think
txtcodes> RVYE52.txt
bott.elf
config.dat
installer.log

the codemanager works when i turn it to gct but after gecko os starts and it finds the sd codes, it plays the game like the codes aren’t there. i know the codes are real. is there something i could be doing wrong?

hey i need help basically what happened is that i have a hacked wii (i know naughty naughty) and ive got the homebrew channel. i want to get rid of the hacked wii i just want a legit wii with the new firmware and things… the problem is that i heard if you update it ninNINTENDOll know that you hacked it and then will brick your wii or was it if you update it your wii gets bricked… is there any way i could do this beabecause i dont want me wii to get bricked….

My firmware is 4.0E

later on id like to re hack it i know how to but not now i want the legit wii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
