gas pipe carrying electrical current?
The wife and I bought an old house (built in 1923) with what we already know is old wiring, ready for replacement. We bought a used oven today to install in the kitchen and I plugged in the power cord (110v AC) and then when I pulled the natural gas flex line over to the valve, it sparked! I have done this before and I thought I knew what I was doing. I got my multimeter and saw the outlet was giving normal numbers but then I tested to see whether there was voltage between the gas pipe and the outlet ground. It measured around 60v AC. That’s not ok, right? What’s happening?
