Deadly animals aren’t born, their made.
July 28th, 2008 on 10:41 am
Why is the animal deadly?

the same way i can justify stupid people like you asking questions like this

This is a nature vs. nurture issue. If the pit bull is older and has a past history of being violent then yes it can be dangerous. If they have the pit bull as a puppy and can raise him to be a non aggressive dog then no they are not putting their children at risk, also if the pit bull is older and has a history of being a passive dog.
However some people feel that no matter how well raised a dog is, that just because of the name pit bull it is destined to be violent.

A better question would be “How do you justify the adoption of a pit bull by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt? Aren’t they endargering the animal by having it around kids that might hurt it?”
Pitbulls are not deadly animals. People are deadly Animals. Pitbulls are dogs. One of the best behaved easiest trainable dog that loves people and kids. I think the dog likely has more to worry about then the kids do.

Not at all! saying a breed of dog is deadly is just plain ignorance. People are to blame. When a dog is mistreaded, then it becomes a danger. People have to understand that if a dog is taken care of, loved, trained, healthy and in a stable eviornment it will be a good dog, regardless of breed. Also, ANY dog can be dangerous! Dogs don’t know if they are a rottweiler (which I have, and she is just an oversided teddy bear!), lab or a poodle, but because the look different, they are treated differentlly, and some breeds are labeld “Bad Dogs”

didn’t know they got a pit bull. while i would never own one, it’s not the dogs fault…it’s a presumption from past practice. some will blame the owner — ok…i’d almost agree with that however Bloodline can play a factor. the breeder can say it’s all good BUT the breeder could be a liar. I don’t need the drama.

It’s a myth that all pit bulls are agressive and dangerous. I’ve got two of them and they’re the sweetest dogs I’ve ever owned. No one breed is vicious or evil. A dog is usually what you make of him.

All dogs can be dangerous. There is no such thing as breeds that bite and breeds that do not bite. Buying into that media hype that “Such and such breed is dangerous” and “such and such breed is safe” just creates a recipe for disaster. For example, I witnessed a news event where a Greyhound rescue utterly mauled a 10 year old and the rescue organization actually *blamed the family* with the ludicrous quote that “Greyhounds do not bite” and therefore it must have been provoked. The other day I listened to a radio interview with a Dalmation breeder who stated that “Dalmations are never aggressive” which again is absolute bunk. I’ve worked with aggressive dogs of all manner of breeds and I promise you that breed profiling does nothing more than leave people blind to situations with actual risk.
If I were to trouble myself with worry about Angie and Brad, it would be to wonder how they can justify adopting new children at a rate that makes you wonder if they’re simply trying to collect the entire International Set, i.e. one from each country, get ‘em now before they run out! If I saw someone adopting dogs at that rate, I’d call them a collector and be worried about their ability to provide long-term care once the “new” wears out. But that’s another topic.

Why is it anyone else’s business what kind of dog these people get? No one would be making a big deal about it if it was a Golden Retreiver, now would they? I say leave them alone and let them have whatever kind of dog they want. And FYI: These dogs aren’t “deadly animals”. They are great family dogs if raised right and socialized. (Just like it takes any other dog to be a great “family dog”.) It’s not like they adopted a crocodile or something…..

Well the dog needed a family and they needed a dog and luckily they found each other to love.
You should do a little research on the pit as I’m certain they did.
Maybe you’ll find the pitbull isn’t the devil dog it’s been made out to be.And NO I don’t own one nor have I ever. They need way too much exercise for me.
August 14th, 2008 on 3:43 pm
The only danger is ignorant people like you.
August 14th, 2008 on 4:45 pm
Would it be the same if they adopted a nippy little dog? No, because people like you feed into the media hype about APBTs. Have you ever been around one or just seen them on the news. I’m sure other APBT owners on here will agree with me. There is nothing better than owning an APBT and they are wonderful and unique. Go EDUCATE yourself

Wow, you really know how to stir up the poop. I’m sure you’ll be hearing from pitty owners who love the breed and wouldn’t hesitate to have their pups around children. I walk my dogs with a friend who has a white female named Babe – couldn’t be sweeter. I have another friend with a rescue pit bull named Rosie, again couldn’t be sweeter. On the other hand, I have 2 Westies and I’ve read that this breed doesn’t do well with children. Fortunately I haven’t had to justify to anyone why I have 2 of this breed around my 5 grandchildren. My cute, fluffy little white Westies could be very dangerous around my young grandchildren if I starved them, chained them up 24/7, beat them, etc., etc. So in answer to your question, I’d say no.
